Rising damp occurs when ground moisture moves upward through porous brickwork and masonry by capillary action. In an East Sheen property, signs can include staining, crumbling plaster, salt deposits, mould growth or damage around skirting boards. Damplast investigates the source of the moisture before recommending a suitable course of action. Treatment may include a chemical damp proof course, membrane or tanking system, together with replastering where wall finishes have been affected.
