A damp proof course is designed to limit ground moisture moving up through masonry. Where an existing course is absent, damaged or no longer effective, the lower parts of internal walls can show salt deposits, peeling finishes, crumbling plaster or damage around skirting boards. In Putney and across the SW15 area, this is worth assessing carefully rather than assuming every damp patch is rising damp. Older period properties can have solid masonry walls, and their construction, external ground levels and ventilation all need to be considered before treatment. Damplast investigates the moisture pattern and, where a remedial DPC is appropriate, uses a silicone-based chemical cream injected into the mortar course to form a moisture-resistant barrier. We can then prepare and replaster the affected area as part of the restoration work.
